IC 5146, the Cocoon Nebula in Cygnus is another stellar nursery forming hot young
stars, similar to the Orion, Trifid and Cone nebulae. It lies 3,300 light-years away. It's
beauty is enhanced by the surrounding dark nebulosity, which in turn is surrounded by
the rich background of the summer Milky Way.  In this image you can see the dark dust
lane that the nebula leaves in its wake as it slides through space.
